Encaustic paint—made from beeswax, damar resin, and pigment—is a wonderfully versatile medium that can be applied in many creative ways. In this class, you’ll explore a playful technique using tissue paper soaked with encaustic paint to build a rich, layered artwork.
You will learn how to prepare your birch panel substrate, create colorful encaustic-soaked tissue papers, and then use those papers to “paint” your image. Whether you choose a landscape or an abstract composition, your textured piece can be further enhanced with pigment sticks for added depth and detail.
No prior experience is necessary. Both artists who are completely new to encaustic and those with experience in the medium are warmly welcome.
