Every year, as summer comes to an end, I collect leaves in preparation for my annual creation of eco dyed papers. In a three day process I soak watercolor papers, layer these with leaves, simmer them in a large pot, and allow them to set overnight. At the end of this process I remove the leaves which have left their impression on the papers. This is now the start of and encaustic painting. I always love the results, and their ongoing reminder of nature’s beauty.
